As usual for this time of year, the total number of homes for sale has grown since January, hitting 6,752 units in May. While this is about the same as last May, overall inventory is 11% higher than the long-term average for this month.
This inventory growth is entirely driven by a higher supply of apartments and townhouses. Meanwhile, the market for detached houses is shrinking, with 3% fewer single-family homes available compared to both last year and the long-term average.
