Homebuyer's in Calgary are scrambling to scoop up a property. Most recently I saw a $530,000 house selling for $101,000 above the ask price.
Here are some interesting facts that is share worthy:
- 45.6% of the listings sold above the asking price.
- The average price is above $510,000.
- There are 66.4% more sold units, but only 10% more listings are on the market.
- The average buyer negotiated to "only" pay 0.51% above the asking price.
- On average, $28,540 was paid on top of the asking price in a multiple offer situation.
- The highest amount paid over the asking price was $115,000.

Despite the fact that over 18% of all the sales sold higher than the asking price in September, average prices have not changed much from a year ago. However, interest rates are on the rise and very likely it's going to create another onrush for home buyers sitting on the fence to enter the market before the end of the year. Hence, we may see average prices rising in the coming months if the above unfolds.
