Forget haunted houses — some of the scariest things can happen in your own home. A furnace giving out on the coldest night of the year, discovering a leak right before you’re planning to list, realizing that the “quick DIY project” has somehow turned into a full renovation, or opening a repair bill that you definitely weren’t expecting. Homeownership comes with plenty of rewarding moments, but it also comes with the occasional surprise.
The best way to avoid turning a small problem into a major headache is to stay on top of maintenance, understand your home, and have the right professionals to call when something goes wrong. Because while we can’t promise there won’t be a few surprises along the way, we can at least try to keep the truly scary ones to a minimum. What’s your biggest homeowner nightmare?
