Good to see new rules involving the mortgage stress test which will make qualifying easier and show more adaptability in the dynamic mortgage market!

Starting in April, the government will change the rules that cover mortgage lending in a way that should in the short term at least make it easier to qualify for a loan to buy a home.

Mortgage-industry officials say the government’s First-Time Home Buyer program is likely to fall far short of its goal of making real estate more affordable to many new buyers.

A mortgage broker said he is struggling to figure out who is the ideal user of the program because it allows a lower maximum mortgage level than if a borrower were to simply apply for a standard mortgage
