There’s something about a wide-open view that changes the pace of a day.

Views like this invite you to slow down a little. To breathe deeper. To linger longer.

Maybe that’s why people dream about the countryside, not just for the land or the house itself, but for the feeling that comes with it. The calm. The space. The perspective.

This particular view happens to come from 282 German School Road in Paris, a beautifully renovated bungalow set on 16 scenic acres, complete with panoramic countryside views, a covered deck, pool, barn, and room for the whole family.

Countryside like this is becoming harder to find. Here is your chance to soak it all in.

A little shelfie before & after.
Minimalism can sometimes feel just a little… empty.
I love seeing built-ins become curated collections — pieces with history, books you’ve actually read, objects that mean something.
Built-ins shouldn’t feel staged. They should feel lived in.
Charactered fusion is where it’s at: thoughtful layers, meaningful pieces, warmth.
Homes should feel collected. Not decorated.

It’s not “what is old is new again” it’s “In with the old. Out with the new.”

Thrifting. Collecting. Character injection into modern.

I smiled when I started seeing it everywhere — because my first self-purchased piece came home with me when I was 12 years old.

A Victorian loveseat.

I loved it instantly.

That little obsession turned into decades of hunting, usually with my dad, following rumours of tucked-away shops or collectors, driving all over Ontario and Quebec, hoping the next stop would be the one.

Some days it was. Some days it wasn’t. We loved every minute either way.

My parents knew fine china like second nature. Furniture was about feel. Proportion. Character. Story.

I learned early that homes shouldn’t feel trendy — they should feel lived in.

Mixing old and new has always been the way for me. Not because it’s fashionable now — but because warmth and history can’t be replicated.

Trends come and go.

Feeling lasts.

Over the next little while, I might share a few thoughts on pieces with history — what works, what doesn’t, and how to let them tell their story without taking over yours.

No rules. Just instincts.

Every so often, a piece of art stops you in your tracks.

At , a misty laneway caught my eye — something others may have passed by, yet it sparked memories and a deep sense of calm.

More recently, a gift from Marissa Warner of a spectacular sunset brought back the feeling of moments enjoyed at the cottage.

Art isn’t about filling a wall — it’s about choosing pieces that reflect your personal journey and style, wherever they come from. Let your emotions lead the way.

It was so nice visiting Chartwell Queen’s Square for their open house. This residence holds a special place in my heart; my mom lived here for a few years and made the most wonderful friends. She loved joining events whenever she could.

Seeing the beautiful renovations and the care Rosalyn and her team put into every detail reminded me why this place was such a wonderful home for her.
