This is the nicest crawlspace I have been in so far this year. I wish they were all like this. It sure beats crawling around on a gravel or dirt floor.

Up north camping for the week just went on a little ATV ride to a little place called Mackey’s Creek. Hope everyone’s having a good week as we are.

This is getting to be a trend this week. For the third time in the last week I have found the safety sensors for the overhead garage door mounted on either the wall or the ceiling instead of shooting across the opening for the garage door.

Their purpose is to prevent the garage door from closing on a person, pet, or object.

The sensors are typically mounted 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) above the floor so they can detect:

* Children
* Pets
* Vehicle bumpers
* Bicycles, lawn equipment, or other objects in the doorway

Why they’re important

Before these sensors became standard, garage doors could continue closing if they encountered an obstacle, which led to serious injuries and property damage. Modern garage door openers are required to have this entrapment protection, and the sensors work together with the opener’s force-reversal system.

It’s always nice getting a recommendation.

On today’s home inspection we have a garage door opener on an extension cord, which is seen quite often. We also have the safety sensors mounted above the door opener instead of at the door in case somebody walks through. Why the sensors are mounted above the opener. I don’t know because blocking them still does not reverse the door, indicating the wires are probably jumped for them.
