Here we go again with overhead garage door sensors mounted up by the opener instead of down at the door! đź‘€

These safety sensors should be positioned near the floor on opposite sides of the garage door opening. Mounted together overhead like this, they cannot detect a person, pet or object in the doorway as the door closes.

But look up a little farther… the outlet supplying the garage door opener is hanging out of its electrical box, supported by the wires! This creates a potential shock and fire hazard.

The sensors need to be properly installed and tested by a garage door technician, and the outlet needs repair by a qualified electrician.

Just because the door opens and closes doesn’t mean everything is safe.

Before the first fire of the season, give your chimney some attention!

As cooler weather approaches, arrange to have your wood-burning chimney inspected by a qualified chimney professional and swept as needed. Creosote buildup, animal nests and other blockages can develop between seasons. Inspection and cleaning help reduce chimney fire risks and allow smoke to vent properly.

A little preparation now can help you enjoy those cosy fires with greater peace of mind. 🔥
