Everyone always talks about the emotions of buying your first home, and rightfully so. It’s exciting, nerve wracking, a little chaotic, and full of that wow, we’re actually doing this feeling.
But I don’t think we talk enough about the other side of that coin. Selling your first home.
Because by then, it’s not just a property you bought.
It’s the home where your life happened for a period of time. Maybe the place you brought your babies home to. Hosted holidays. Painted walls you swore you’d love forever. Learned all the little quirks that somehow became part of its charm.
And then one day you’re supposed to detach from all of that and suddenly look at it like a product.
That part can be harder than people expect.
Not because anyone is being unrealistic or overly emotional, but because pride of ownership is real. Memories are real. The attachment is real.
Helping first-time sellers through that process has reminded me this job is rarely just about the house.
It’s about helping people navigate the emotional side of letting go, making decisions with clarity, and moving toward whatever comes next feeling supported through it.
This message from a recent client meant a lot, because I think it speaks to exactly that.
Cheers to T&B as they say goodbye to one home full of memories and step into the next.
