We actually had their candles in our cottages during our very first season at Green Acres, and let’s just say they were so well loved that a few ended up leaving with our guests! 😂

A big thank you to Wayne Evans for helping us get the stage area at Gus’s Barn set up!

I first bought some of this sound and DJ equipment from Wayne about a year ago, and picked up some more from him recently. Wayne was kind enough to come out with his wife from Grand Falls and spend the better part of two days going through everything with me, helping get it set up and sharing some of the knowledge he’s gained over more than 45 years of DJing weddings and venues in Ontario.

One thing that really stood out was the condition he kept his equipment in. You can tell Wayne has always taken a lot of pride in his gear and in his craft, and it was a pleasure getting to learn from someone with that much experience as he gets closer to officially retiring from the DJ world.

Thanks again, Wayne, for all the time and help. This stage and sound setup is going to be a big part of Gus’s Barn at Green Acres and the weddings and events held here for years to come.

Local Artist Spotlight

For our second Local Artist Spotlight, we’d like to recognize Dave Keats, a local craftsman who spends his spare time woodworking and creating custom furniture and pieces.

As we continue bringing Gus’s Barn together, we want as much of its character as possible to be authentic, handmade and local.

When it came time for a head table, we brought Dave in, showed him the barn and gave him a simple idea — a large rustic farmhouse-style table that looked like it belonged in the space.

From there, we let him run with it.

Nearly 100 hours of work later, he created this beautiful 12-foot custom table, tying together the wood, black accents and rustic character of Gus’s Barn. We couldn’t be happier with it!!

A huge thank you to Dave for creating a piece that will be part of many special days at Gus’s Barn for years to come.

Congrats to the “Meet the Walkers” crew for finishing their walk across Newfoundland and raising nearly $16,000 for the Community Food Sharing Association.

Local Artist Spotlight!

At Green Acres, we want to do more than provide a place to stay—we want to showcase some of the incredible talent Newfoundland and Labrador has to offer.

We’re excited to introduce our very first Local Artist Spotlight: Isaac “Ike” Benoit of Corner Brook.

At just 9 years old and heading into Grade 5, Ike began taking art lessons this year with Art & Soul and has quickly discovered a passion for painting. Landscapes are his favourite to create, and when he’s not painting, you’ll usually find him skiing, biking, or playing volleyball.

We recently picked up this beautiful landscape piece, which will soon be displayed in one of our cottages for guests to enjoy. We’ve already asked Ike to create more artwork for us—including a special painting of Gus’s Barn that we’re excited to see!

A big thank you to Victor and Courtney Benoit for encouraging Isaac’s creativity and sharing his talent with us. Supporting young artists and local creators is something we’re proud to do, and we hope this is the first of many artist spotlights at Green Acres.

Please join us in congratulating Ike and wishing him all the best as he continues to grow as an artist. We can’t wait to watch where his talent takes him!
