Gramma at 40. Sober six months later.

June 2017 made me a young gramma. That December, my husband and I quit drinking together.

Alcohol was my drug of choice. No dressing that up.

Here's the hard part. Part of me carries guilt for not quitting sooner, for my girls. When I told them, they didn't see it like I do, so I'm gonna take their word for it.

Being present for our grandbabies is the reason. We have knowledge and traditions to pass on, and I plan to remember every minute of it.

Sobriety taught me I can do hard things, sleep without w**e (who knew), and show up fully for the people I love.

To grow you gotta do the hard things. This was mine.

Now the fun part. Your drink is safe around me. Zero judgment.

And YES, I still know how to have a good time. Buckle up sweetheart. These days I remember the whole night.

Almost nine years in. Ask anyone if I'm fun.
