✨ Real estate isn’t just about houses—it’s about people. ✨
My heart has been heavy since Thursday.
While waiting for an appointment, I was scrolling Facebook and saw that a client of mine, Jeff, had passed away earlier this week. 💔 My heart sank. He was only 41.
It’s been exactly a year since we met. Jeff had fallen on hard times and needed to sell his home.
During one of our first conversations, he confided in me that he was broke—and hungry.
Joey and I didn’t think twice. We ordered and dropped off a pizza and a bottle of pop for him that night. 🥤🍕
As we worked together, I saw how life had isolated him. When his money ran out, so did many of the people around him. He just needed someone to show up.
I took him grocery shopping (he was so excited to cook real meals again 🥘 and have a full belly), got him organized, got his gov’t ID back in order, and sold his home quickly.
And through it all, we built trust.
His sweet dog, Phoenix—affectionately called “Phe Phe”—became my buddy too (likely because there was always treats in my pockets 😍 🐾).
We stayed in touch after the sale.
Our last text conversation in January ended with a picture of Phe Phe with the caption, “HI TERESA LOVE PHE PHE” 💌
Jeff’s passing has been a quiet heartbreak. His dad now has Phe Phe, and told me she’s all he has left of Jeff. But with his wife’s allergies, I worry about what the future holds for her.
I told him: If anything changes, please call me. I’m here.
🌿 Some clients become more than clients. They become part of your heart. 🌿
Jeff and Phe Phe will always have a place in mine. Rest easy Jeff!
