What is travelling to you?✈️🌎

I've always loved it and always will. But only in 2020, I realised how essential it is to me. It's one of my non-negotiable lifestyle values.

It's necessary to feel alive— the necessity to emerge in new cultures, new cuisines, new people, and lifestyles.🌇

If my loved ones or friends can't go with me on an adventure I want, I'll definitely go alone. In fact, I wouldn't want company on some particular trips.

Travelling alone once in a while can push you out of your comfort zone. It can put you in a situation where you'd need to use all your problem-solving skills. You'll use the parts of the brain you might neglect in your daily life. 😝

There's so much excitement and uncertainty that makes travelling addictive. 🥰

But what if you can't go on a trip? Usually, I'd feel profoundly unsatisfied or even unhappy.

Today I realized that it's the novelty I'm seeking. And if trips aren't in the picture, I can still generate some novelty in my life to experience the same emotions.🤩

I've never thought of it from this angle. Going to a new restaurant, taking a new class, learning a new skill, talking to new people: all of this can turn into an exciting adventure.

It might not be as intense as landing on the other side of the world, ready to explore, but it's pretty powerful.

If you implement enough minor "novelties" in your life and explore them one by one, you'd feel alive and pumped most of the time.🤞🏻

What are your thoughts on this? How often do you feel stuck in your routine, waiting for vacation to change it up a bit?

You established your career and maybe even found your best friend - your partner.

You often think about taking your life to a new level.

The thought of settling down crosses your mind more often than ever.

You’d love to have kids in the future as much as a little furry pup or a kitten.

You daydream about this new life, but deep down, you know you can’t have any of the above in your small apartment.

You can’t even host all your friends at the same time, leave alone raising a child and having a puppy running around.

If you are curious to know where to start your home buying journey, I have a solution for you.

I created Elevate Your Ordinary method for first-time home buyers like you.

Some people get so pumped when they hear this word. They picture all the fantastic adventures that camping holds for them.

Well, I am the opposite. Totally opposite! 😂

My heart rate does go up, but not from the excitement! Instead, I'm terrified by the idea of not sleeping in bed. Plus the mosquitos, the bears at night, potential wildlife encounters every minute; the list goes on.

I genuinely admire people who can sleep in a sleeping bag in a tent, are okay to skip the shower and don't mind the cold at night.

I tried to become one of them too.

When I had just moved to Canada, I was eager to try all Canadian activities. My friends invited me to go camping with them near Jasper.

I couldn't wait for that day. Then, finally, everything was packed and ready to go.

It was mid-June. The sun was shining and hugging you with its warmth. What a lovely day for a road trip, you'd say.

We arrived at the campsite quite late. By the time we sorted all the admin staff, it had started raining. We wanted to wait until the rain stopped, but it was getting worse.

The crew decided to set up tents and start bbq-ing anyways.
I watched a dozen of Youtube videos about camping and felt very confident. Naive me lol

I'm not quite sure when everything went wrong, but after everyone fell asleep late at night, I realized that my tent had been leaking all this time.

After some attempts to fix it, half of it collapsed. 😅 By that time, it started snowing, and nothing helped to keep me warm or dry.

It was a camping disaster, my personal nightmare!

At 5 am when I was half frozen, we drove to Hinton's Canadian Tire to be there by the time they opened to get new dry equipment and warm camping gear.

When I was back, I saw bear's paw prints all around my poor collapsed tent!! That was the last straw for me. 🐻 It was the moment I knew I wouldn't do it again.

Even though my first experience wasn't great and I didn't take on this Canadian hobby, I try to stay positive.
I'm grateful I haven't got eaten by that bear that night ! 🙂🐻

I was recently challenged by my coach to take an entire day off on Sunday.

The deal was straightforward - no client's meetings, no calls unless it's an emergency and can't wait.

I have to admit, I was very skeptical and anxious and resisted this idea so much.

But when I was pushing another crazy 70hours work week, I knew I would be burnt out again if I didn't try.

So, I did!

I had to do lots of planning and some delegating to make it work, but it was an amazing slow Sunday!

I literally did nothing. I made blueberry pancakes and read a book all day. HAHA

And you know what? I felt like a rockstar on Monday and was 100 times more productive than usual that week.

I know; it's so essential, yet so hard to commit to.

When I'm well-rested, I serve my dear clients better and care about their needs with even more passion.

I didn't realize how much I needed this one full day off a week to recharge and be my usual kind self.

I greatly appreciate all my clients' kindness and understanding, and hopefully, this trend will continue. Unless it's an emergency, of course 🙂 hahah

Have you heard of The Shiny Object Syndrom?

"Shiny object syndrome is the situation where people focus all attention on something that is new, current or trendy, yet drop this as soon as something new takes its place." (C) Wiki

I've had this syndrome for years, way before I knew it had a definition.

You think it must be shoes or purses. Nope!! Although, I need to admit I have a few too many pairs of shoes. Many of them are still brand new in boxes waiting for the perfect weather, haha

My true obsession is self-development. Thus, I read 5-6 books simultaneously and keep buying new courses without finishing old ones.

I have an ever-growing list of books I'd like to read, courses to take, conferences to attend etc.
Yet, I feel like a lifetime isn't long enough to learn everything I want to know. And it's true.

So, this year after calculating how much money I had spent on books, training, courses, personal sessions etc. I promised myself not to buy any single book until I finish what's already on my bookshelves, haha

The other reason why I made this decision is mindfulness. I simply need time to apply all the new skills I learn. I need to sink it in before I jump on another project.

Have you faced a similar problem with the shiny object syndrome? How did you break the cycle?

You’ve heard the expression “tenants are mortgage helpers” before.

Yet, you’ve never run the numbers of how much you actually pay for your rent.

Until that day when your financial advisor mentioned that you’ve spent over $75,000 on rent in the last 5 years.

The news shook you. You spent 75k on someone else's mortgage!

It could have been your own investment.

Your investment, your place, your own rules.

You could actually build your own home equity.

$1500-2000 a month never seemed like a big deal.

But spending $75k in 5 years with zero return makes you restless at night.

If you are thinking about buying your first place, and want to know the process, check out my Guide. I created it for the first-time home buyers where I explain every step. The link to Download it is in my bio.
