Edmonton has all the ingredients to be one of Canada’s hottest resale real estate markets, driven by a mix of strong economic growth and affordable homes.

“Edmonton continues to be one of the most affordable major Canadian centres,” says Melanie Boles, chair of the Realtors Association of Edmonton.

Statistics from April, for example, show the average price of a single-family detached home — still the top housing choice for buyers in the city — was about $530,000, up nearly six per cent year over year.

Edmonton’s resale real estate market has all necessary pieces for growth — most notably an ample supply of affordable homes.

Feng Shui Your Home
What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is a 3000 year old ancient art that was first established in China, and has been integrated into many Western homes. Feng Shui is about balancing the energies of any given space. To have good Feng Shui in a home means that good energy will flow throughout the house, and, ultimately, bring good fortune.
There a few basic ways that you can change your home so that harmony and good energy can flow throughout the house.
Check the outside of your home. You want to have a clear passage way to your front door. A tree blocking the path to the front door, or anything else that might impede the flow of chi, or energy, might create energy blockages. Good energy will have a hard time getting through your front door.
Make sure that the first thing that you see upon entering the home will provide good energy. A mirror facing the door will bounce the energy back out, causing energy to become stuck. A staircase that faces the front door will flow down the stairs and out the door, or in through the door and up the stairs too quickly. You want to make sure the energy, or chi, is channelled easily throughout all the rooms.
Main energy centres need to have good Feng Shui. These main energy centres consist of the bedroom, the kitchen, and the bathroom. If the energy is stuck or diminished in any of these areas, the energy in the rest of the house will diminish.
Keep the energy flowing by getting rid of old and unused items. Decluttering and cleaning your home will freshen the space and help the chi to flow smoothly again.
The best way to begin improving the chi, or the energy, of your home with Feng Shui is to take it slowly and one room at a time. Over a short period of time, you will begin to feel the changes in the energy of your home.
