🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡
Today is a day to listen, learn, reflect, make connections, and take action.
September 30 honours the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. It is also a day to recognize that the impacts of the residential school system did not end when the schools closed. They continue to be felt across generations.
Reconciliation is more than acknowledging the past. It begins with truth, continues through education and understanding, and asks each of us to consider the role we can play in moving forward with respect.
🧡 Every Child Matters.
🧡 Listen to Indigenous voices.
🧡 Learn the history.
🧡 Reflect on what reconciliation means.
🧡 Carry what we learn beyond today.
What is one thing you have learned, or one action you can take that will help you contribute to reconciliation?
