RENOVATION TIP – Check for leaks BEFORE you close the walls 🚨

If you’re renovating and your walls are open… this is the time to test EVERYTHING.

✔️ Run every sink
✔️ Check every drain
✔️ Inspect all supply lines
✔️ Fill and drain tubs
✔️ Watch for slow drips

Don’t assume. Test it.

On this recent project, we pressure-tested and ran everything. All plumbing lines were solid. No supply leaks. No drain leaks.

But we still found water.

Now that makes you scratch your head.

There were no visible water lines or drains where the leak showed up… so what gives?

Knowing how systems are built, I traced it back to an improperly installed tub surround. The cavity behind it wasn’t properly sealed.

When I install tub surrounds, I fill that cavity with 100% silicone. Some people say it’s overkill. It’s not.

You never want voids or air gaps behind your waterproof membrane. Water will find its way in — and when it does, you won’t see it until it’s too late.

That’s why we test while walls are open.
Fix it now. Not after drywall. Not after paint. Not after tenants.

Renovations aren’t just about finishes.
