To truly know if a neighborhood fits the life you are trying to build, you need to test-drive your potential future self.
Before you write an offer, run The 72-Hour Reality Check:
1. Don’t just mock-commute to the office. Drive from the house to the nearest grocery store at 5:15 PM on a rainy Tuesday. Find the bottlenecks when you are tired, hungry, and just want to get home.
2. If your dream weekend starts with a quiet morning walk and a great espresso, can you actually do that without getting into a car? Walk the neighborhood at the exact time you’d want to enjoy it. Does the energy feel like you?
3. Find the local brewery, dog park, or coffee shop and sit there for an hour. Are people making eye contact? Are they chatting with neighbors? You are buying the social aspect just as much as the square footage.
