🔑 Just got the keys to your new home? 🏡 Here are some things Niagara and Buyers should do RIGHT away:

1. Change the locks - whether you bought a house, condo, townhouse or detached home, you never know who still has copies of the keys.

2. Change the toilet seats - this is just good overall general hygiene 😜

3. Deep clean before unpacking - a deep clean while it’s still empty is faster, easier and worth it!

4. Find main shut off valves for gas and water - you will need to know where these are located especially in emergency situations.

5. Update smoke and CO detectors - replace the batteries and upgrade if needed.

6. Review home insurance coverage - confirm your replacement values, deductibles and coverage. Especially if you are planning to do renovations.

7. Create a “Home Binder” - I recommmend both physical and digital files to store all your important home documents, manuals, receipts, and contracts.

8. Start a home maintenance fund - owning real estate in Niagara comes with ongoing and unexpected costs. A small fund can help with any unexpected costs that come up.
