Born and raised in the Peace Region, Doug Petersen has always found himself an active and welcomed member of the community. After graduating from North Peace Secondary, Doug continued his education at Simon Fraser University, pursuing a degree in Economics. During that time, he was a prominent figure in the university-level football scene which soon developed into a full-fledged CFL career. Throug
hout his pro career he played for the BC Lions, Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Eskimos. In a career totaling nine seasons, he won the 82nd Grey Cup with the Lions, was named CFL’s East All-Star in back-to-back years with the Alouettes and West All-Star with the Eskimos. He was also selected as top Canadian by the Edmonton chapter of the Football Reporters of Canada. Many could testify that Doug had distinguished himself as one of the CFL's toughest and most dominant players. Now eager to see what life outside of football held for him, Doug chose to retire in 2003. Upon returning to Fort St John, Doug became a licensed REALTOR. He quickly showed an aptitude for the industry and his personable approach made him a trusted professional to many early on. In 2009 Doug become part owner of Action Realty alongside his dad. Both he and the company have been recognized for outstanding performance; the office winning top small market office in Western Canada on multiple occasions, and Doug being recognized for large volume of transactions in both residential and commercial sales. With over ten years in real estate now under his belt, Doug continues to enjoy a successful professional career balanced with family life. Father to a son and a daughter, Doug and his family enjoy taking in all the Peace Region has to offer. They are avid fishers, often spending weekends at the family cabin along the Halfway River, or walking their dog in Charlie Lake near Doug’s childhood home. Most recently, he took on the coaching position for his son’s team in the North Peace Minor Baseball League, who were proud to be named the 2015-2016 champions.
