Today marked the last official council meeting before this week’s election results “candidate elects” get announced on Saturday night, after the general voting has closed at 8pm.

To Gord and Byron, it’s been 15 years boys, a decade and a half of life’s changes, agreeing, disagreeing, and debating .. but no matter what, having Fort St John and her people in our hearts and on the top of our minds. Byron, thank you for your service and i wish you all the best with your plans going forward and Gord i wish you the best of luck with this election and your return.

Lilia and Tony it’s been 9 and 8 years, which seems far longer as i have known you both for a lifetime before council. Thank you for all you have done for our community, in council and out. I wish you both the best of luck with Saturdays results, and truly appreciate you both and your voices.

Jim and Sarah, our newest members at 5 and 4 years. You have both brought a unique voice to council and it’s been great to get to know you over the last term. I appreciate the work you do and wish you luck this week ahead as The City of Fort St. John votes.

With advanced voting Wednesday October 14th (tomorrow) 8-8pm at The FSJ Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102, and general voting Saturday 8-8pm .. let’s talk Fort St John’s .

Why does housing matter for Fort St John’s future? Two years ago on this very page, i said housing prices were going to become an issue with families and growth. I speculated a 6% increase in 2025, followed with an 8% in 2026 and reaching 11% in 2027… well we are 2/3 of that as of today. This can price families out of the market, it can prevent people from moving here, and it can even stop companies from choosing Fort St John as their new home.

We can’t control the cost of lumber, concrete or shingles .. but we can control the costs from the city, the timelines for permits and we can champion The City of Fort St. John to bring more trades and more builders to our city.

We need homes that families can afford .. let’s Build Fort St John Better. Tomorrow i am asking YOU vote for me as YOUR Mayor.

This is the week that changes The City of Fort St. John’s future.

Last chance Advance Voting; Wednesday October 14th, 8am-8pm at The FSJ Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102. Bring two pieces of ID and have in Fort St John’s Future Built on OUR Past.

OUR first advanced voting last week, seen the highest increase election over election with a +98.5% increase .. let’s make history and do it again on the second advance voting this Wednesday.

General Voting Day: Saturday October 17th, 8am-8pm also at The FSJ Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102. Bring two pieces of ID and have in Fort St John’s Furure Built on OUR Past.

Last election (2022) only 17% of Fort St John voted. I’m asking that you take the 10 mins it takes to have YOUR say and commit to us working together, for the future of the city WE live in and LOVE.

It has been my absolute pleasure and honour to serve you as Fort St John’s youngest councillor ever elected in 2008, and the longest currently serving now in 2026. I’m excited for what the future holds as my term as Your Councillor ends, and we Build Fort St John Better, together, as Your Mayor

As families and friends gather this Thanksgiving weekend; we do so with gratitude in our hearts, hope for the future of OUR city, province and country and LOVE for those that mean so much to us.

As i reflect on the year past, this holiday weekend, i am thankful for so much. I am here today because of Doctor’s, Surgeons, Nurses and OUR Cancer Clinic. As much as i wish both my parents were here for this thankful supper, i am fortunate to have been able to ring that bell, when they could not.

I am grateful for this amazing city and the people that make it truly one of a kind. Just this past week, the community came together and raised $20,000 for OUR youth and our families in this city and region. This is unique to OUR city, this is the PRIDE we have to be thankful for.

I am fortunate for my own family, and the LOVE and support that we have for each other. I am hopeful you are blessed with the same.

May the dreams you hold dearest, be those which come true and kindness you spread, keep returning to YOU.
