Hey! It's been a hot minute!

I'd like to give a shout-out to Scott's Nursery All of the products shown are available there ☺️

A few months ago, I went through a fight with some nasty thrips that infected all of my plants. I quarantined the worst, the medium worst, and the not-so-bad might have a chance into seperate rooms. My string of turtles were, I don't know how, not infected. But, I chose this as a chance to throw the plant away anyway (I hated it. It was ugly)

Thrips are nasty, as they can spread easily by flying from plant to plant, and laying their eggs in the soil. They feed off the plant, and if left for too long the plant will eventually die.

To treat the infected, I filled a bucket full of water and poured some concentrated End All product. I would then dunk the whole plant in the water, with roots above water, and hold it there for a good minute (until the bubbles stop). I repotted the entire plant, as there could be eggs in the old soil. I then added the Pot Popper beads onto the soil, and watered the plant. The beads will dissolve and release nematodes to kill any eggs or larvae that may have survived.

I would then spray the diluted End All every other day, and keep the plants in quarantine until I saw no more signs of the pest. I did lose a few plants, but that makes room for more plants.

Hello!

I would like to share my debut series called Real Talk, where realtors share their stories through an animated retelling of their experiences in life ☺️

This story is from Amanda Wade, as she talks about when she was a kid, and went fishing with her grandfather-hilarity ensues 🪱

This week, we're spreading the love with the Heartleaf Philodendron!💚

Having origins in Central and South America, this philodendron is the name of a large genus of plants. And the heartleaf is probably the most common of the philodendron.

These plants are quick growers and enjoy bright indirect light. They are another type of plant that is very forgiving to new plant owners, just be sure to have good draining soil. In my experience, they like to drink! Make sure the first few inches of the soil is dry before watering. Even though these plants are durable, soggy soil can ruin any plant.

Heartleaf can come in a variety of colours, some rarer than others. There is the Hederaceum (most common), Brasil, Lemon Lime, Cream Splash, Rio, and more!

I am a sucker for any vining plant, so I am biased, but these plants can make any space feel cozy!

This week we're talking about the spider🕷 plant!

Although having no relation to spiders, this plant is recognizable by its babies dangling on the ends resembling spiders hanging off a web.

Originating in West and South Africa, this plant is nearly indestructible. All you really need to be cautious of is overwatering. Spider plants do prefer moist soil, but not soggy. Wet soil for a prolonged period of time can cause root rot, which will ultimately kill the plant. I prefer using a moisture reader, they are accurate and relatively inexpensive! You can get them from Amazon ☺️

A common occurrence amongst spider plants is that they can develop brown tips on the ends of their leaves. This is a sign of fluoride in the tap water, but it is nothing to really worry about 🙂

Spider plants like indirect to bright sunlight, I personally have mine situated far from a south-facing window and it does beautifully!

I find they do super well in offices, why is that? Feels like a universal thing🤔
