Winter is here and if you live in a cold climate like we do, sadly, your entryway will not look like a magazine spread. The reality is all of our wet winter gear (mitts, toques, boots etc.) needs a place to dry. 🥾🧤🧣

Here are 8 inexpensive or DIY solutions that you can try so that you are not left with heaps of wet gear lying around your lovely entryway:

1. Create an over-the-register dryer using scrap wood, PVC pipe or wire.
2. Use a foldable or retractable drying rack placed near your heat source.
3. Create a clothespin drying station.
4. Use a wire magazine rack to store and dry wet gear.
5. Tree branches naturally have lots of "arms" perfect for hanging.
6, Use an over-the-door shoe rack for a low profile, maximum storage option.
7. Ladders are not just for trendy blanket or towel storage but are great for clothes drying too.
8. Create a peg board to hang on the wall above your register. In the winter, it is the perfect place to hang your wet gear. During the rest of the year, you have a lovely, multi-functional, adaptable storage area.

Let me know if you have any other winter wet gear drying solutions in the comments below. Cheers!

Let your home be a reflection of the people within.

What better way to do this then to create your own artwork. You can purchase canvas and paints from your local art supply store (or dollar store).

The whole family can participate. Don't worry if you are not a Picasso, just paint what makes you happy. Pop paintings in DIY picture frames or thrifted frames, stand back, and admire. Your kids will love seeing their masterpieces displayed and your home will have a real personal touch.

When you are ready for a change, just paint canvases white and create another masterpiece!

Tip of the day - the items in your home should make you happy!

For nearly two years, I've cursed this awkward area we have in our tiny kitchen behind a door, too narrow for many storage cabinets. I suppose I could have purchased some flat pack unit but I wanted a piece with character and history. So I settled for a temporary solution - two bedside tables. Ugly, but it sort of did the job while I searched for just the right storage solution.

Last night, I finally found the perfect piece and locally too! With a little personalization, this lovely hutch makes the perfect addition to our home - and it makes me very happy!

I love a storage challenge! Living in a small home (750 sqft) means having to get creative when it comes to storage but it doesn't mean having to spend a lot of money. Using some scrap wood we had on hand, I turned our basement stairwell into a beautiful pantry.

Send me a message if you need assistance with your storage challenge(s). I LOVE coming up with storage solutions!

It has been a long time since my last post.

Did I give up on home organizing and staging? Definitely not!

But it did take a back seat while I focused on my most important role - raising a great human!

I had the privilege of homeschooling our little man from March 2020 to June 2021. What a joy to learn and explore together! ❤️

But now that little man is back in school, I am ready to get back in the saddle again. Let's get organizing and creating pretty spaces!

Garages/shed can easily become a catch-all - throw item(s) in, close door and run! No judgement here - I've been there too.

With very little investment (a few 2x4s), this garage became an organized and functional space.

Our 80+ year old home is a lovely little gem but is definitely in need of some updates. Despite a long list of to-dos, I am having so much fun getting some organizational systems in place and creating a home that makes our family feel calm, cozy and happy!

Using the homeowner’s existing furniture and décor, I declutter, rearrange and reallocate belongings to emphasize the space, functionality and features of a house so that it speaks to buyers. Below are some before and after pictures of a home I recently staged.

The architecture of this home was stunning. A bit of staging, and wow! Sold in under a week.
