✔️Check out our latest Spotlight article in Halton Hills Today, where we give an informative Halton Hills neighbourhood breakdown:
Local Broker Cliff Barron knows Georgetown well. He speaks with ease (and affection) about its different neighborhoods and is happy to share what makes each one great. Starting with an overview, he outlined some of the biggest and most popular areas, giving us an insider’s take.
•Stewarts Mill he describes as a mid- to high-end area, where houses range in price from $1.2M up to $2M. Some of the houses here back onto the North Halton Golf Course.
•Park District is close to downtown Georgetown. “It’s a high-end area and is more established, with big lots and many families who have lived there for 20, 30, 40 years or so,” says Cliff. “It’s kind of the best area in Georgetown.”
•Glen Williams is technically not in Georgetown but is located about 500 m north. Nestled along the Credit River, it’s a very high-end area where homes range from $1.2M up to $6M or $7M.
•Georgetown South is a newer area with more detached homes. “If you keep going further, you get to the brand new houses that they’re building,” says Cliff. “They’re actually building a lot of bungalows now for the older population.”
•Delrex, built in the 60s, features older bungalows. There are a lot of basement apartments here, making it a good spot for younger people who are looking to get started.
•Weaver’s Mill features fully freehold, three-level stacked townhouses. The Broker jokes that the area has been nicknamed “Divorce Court”.
Cliff is currently watching an exciting new development coming in on 8th Line and 10 Sideroad. “It’s a big one and it will be interesting to see how it does,” he says. “Believe it or not, when these new subdivisions come in, a lot of the old-timers leave. They go up north,” he adds.
Georgetown South is the neighbourhood he believes offers the best value for house hunters. It’s close to transit, close to Mississauga, and close to the 401 — a great convenience and a huge selling point.
For buyers in different stages of life, he recommends the following:
•First-time buyers: Stewart MacLaren, full of condo townhouses
•Move-up buyers: Georgetown South, small 3-bedroom detached homes, some areas range from about $900K and up
•Downsizers: “A lot of them are leaving town, but there are some condos on Mill Street right in downtown Georgetown that are attracting a lot of seniors,” says Cliff. “It’s a really nice building and I’ve sold quite a few there. They’re moving in and loving it.”..
