Reminder the Grand Valley Small Business Group meeting is tomorrow (Tues) Feb 16th, 2025 from 7-9pm

At this meeting we will review group initiatives as well as have an introduction and presentation from Rebecca Landman in her new role as Industry Relations Manager, Headwaters Region for Central Counties Tourism. Rebecca will be sharing with the group about courses, grants and media connection that are available for local tourism businesses (restaurants, stores, farms etc..) in our area through Central Counties Tourism.

These meet ups are a relaxed gathering, come and go as you need to. Opportunity to meet other local business owners/operators face to face.

Here’s your quick look at the latest stats for the Urban area of Grand Valley!

📊 January is typically a slower month in our local real estate market, but interestingly enough, last year was actually a much busier start to the year here in our area.
This December and January in Grand Valley showed very low buyer activity, and the numbers reflect that with only one home sold during this time.That sale was a detached 3 bed, 3 bath home, built in 2017, located in Phase 2 of the Mayberry Hill development (Thomasfield built).
Even in a quiet market, the right home still finds the right buyer! 👀✨

🏛️ Council Meeting Highlights

🏕️ Campground -Fire Fighters Association will run it again in 2026 as a community service.

💧 Council directed staff to negotiate cost-sharing to replace a private well impacted by Town Well #5.

🚗 New school parking rules: one-side parking on Spruyt, south-side parking on Rainey, mayor contacting school board, and increased bylaw enforcement.

Another set of keys, another new beginning 🏡✨

These first-time home buyers started their journey in the city, but their hearts were always set on Grand Valley. One of them grew up here, and finding a first home where they could truly settle and put down roots made this purchase extra meaningful 🌱

Closing day brought some fierce weather 🌨️ and a few unexpected challenges, but they took it all in stride. With a calm approach, trust in the process, and a little help from their local GV agent (that’s me 😉), we navigated it together.

Yesterday, this house officially became home for my clients 🏡✨

This journey had a few rollercoaster moments 🎢, but my clients never lost sight of what mattered most. They stayed focused, supported one another, and kept moving forward together, even when things felt uncertain.

One of my favourite moments was watching their kids walk through the front door for the first time, running room to room, already planning how they’d make each space their own 🛏️🎨. Seeing those smiles and that excitement made every step of the process worth it 💛

Grateful is the word that comes to mind today 🙏

This year brought a big change with my move to a new brokerage, and along the way I was surprised to receive an award I didn’t even know was coming — or fully understand what it meant at first. What I do understand is how supportive the office has been and how fortunate I feel to work alongside some strong agents and staff who genuinely care about their clients and communities 🤝

I don't set annual sales goals. Instead, I focus on how I can show up better for the people who trust me — whether that’s improving my systems, continuing my education 📚, learning alongside other community-focused agents, or taking steps like earning my Green designation 🌱(Green Builds and Houses are my jam cue my EarthKeeper roots!). Those are the things that matter to me long term.

While the recognition is appreciated, the real win has always been my clients 💛. Every repeat client, every referral, and every person who chooses to work with me means more than any title ever could. I never take that trust for granted.
