Growing up I didn't celebrate birthdays.
I didn't celebrate Christmas.
I didn't celebrate anything really.

While everyone else was experiencing all the "normal" parts of childhood...I was sitting on the outside of it.

As a kid, you don't fully understand it, you just feel different. You feel left out. And over time, that feeling can start to shape how you see yourself and where you think you belong.

In today's episode, I'm sharing what it was actually like growing up as a Jehovah's Witness from about age 4-12. The structure, the door knocking, the meetings...and what it felt like to grow up a little separate from everyone else.
