POV: You just moved to Kingston and the fall air hits. The nights are getting cooler, the apple orchards are busy, and you’re figuring out which window has the best morning light in your new place.

This is my favourite time of year in the Annapolis Valley. There’s a settling-in feeling that comes with the season. It’s about more than just unpacking boxes; it’s about starting to feel like a local, finding your go-to spots, and seeing the seasons change from a new perspective.

It’s a quiet, good feeling. ✨

What’s the one non-negotiable on your home search wish list?

Mine isn’t a number of bedrooms or a specific town. It’s the feeling of a neighbourhood. I always tell my clients to drive through an area they’re considering at different times of day. 7 a.m. on a Tuesday feels a lot different than 2 p.m. on a Saturday.

Seeing how the light hits, hearing the traffic (or lack of it), and noticing whether people are out walking their dogs tells you more than a listing ever can. Especially around Greenwood and Kingston, the character of each little pocket is unique. The right house in the wrong-for-you neighbourhood isn’t the right house.
