Hi Everyone,

A number of you have let me know about the internet being down. Our ISP has informed me that there is a system outage affecting all bell internet services at the moment. We are working to correct the issue and will hopefully be up and running as soon as possible. Unfortunately due to the nature of the issue I cannot provide a time line.

All the best and sorry for the inconvenience.

Andy

Hi Everyone,

We got a report of an unauthorized person sleeping in the hallway by the Laundry room. This Is just a reminder that the front doors need to be kept locked at night. If you do not know your buildings code please email us and we will give it to you. Also if you encounter this you are advised to call the police right away and then let us know so we can assist with any security camera footage that may be of use to them. Your safety is our top concern!

Thanks

Andy

Hi Forest Hill Drive Co-oper’s:

Tampons.

Sorry for the blunt title, but there’s no subtle way to put this: Flushing tampons down the toilet is causing massive damage to our plumbing system and costing us thousands of dollars. You simply can never flush tampons (or condoms or kitty litter…) down the toilet.

For those of you who have been affected by gurgling drains lately, this is the direct result of our sewage lines getting clogged up with these discarded items.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Forest Hill Drive Co-oper’s,

Guelph Hydro will be back this coming Tuesday, November 13th from 9:00 am – 2:30pm and I’m afraid you should count on being without any power for that time. Please be sure to mark it down and plan accordingly. This should be the last time you’re impacted, as they finish the huge task of upgrading the Water St lines.

In case of horrible weather, they’ve set their rain date as Wednesday, November 14th.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Forest Hill Drive Co-oper’s,

Despite the new pot legislation in place, the basic rules regarding smoking still apply. Please be kind and keep all smoking out of the building. You live in old, airy buildings and anything you light up is sure to travel through the entire structure. As well, when you’re thinking you might just want to sit on your balcony or stand in front of the building to smoke, please be mindful that it will still drift into other’s open windows.

This has nothing to do with the law, just basic common courtesy. We have residents with children, and others with asthma. For some, inhaling and smelling smoke of any kind is highly unpleasant and unhealthy. Let’s please keep the Co-op second-hand smoke free and take the little bit of extra effort to not make your enjoyment at the expense of others.

Thanks everyone. Have a great weekend!
Tom

Hi Forest Hill Drive Co-oper’s: Just got a call from Guelph Hydro informing us that they plan to replace a utility pole outside the apartments, and so expect to be without hydro starting at 9am next Thursday Sept 20th. They said it could be as long as all day, so it’d be a good idea to plan ahead.

If it rains, their back up plan is to do the work Friday, Sept 21st.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Folks. We had someone trip and hurt themselves from a rock left outside the front door. Please stop leaving rocks outside common area doors to prop them open. The Fire Marshall gets mad at us, and thieves can walk in your building if you leave the front door open. Thanks.

This is a plea to all of you dog owners to please take the time to clean up after your pets – and I’m specifically referring to dog hair here. I’ve received numerous complaints that your building is constantly coated in tumbleweeds of dog hair. Despite bringing in the cleaners to help, the hair sticks to the mats and gets caught up in the stairwells from basement to top floor.

Please, if you own a dog it’s also your responsibility not to leave a mess that others are forced to put up with.
Thanks,
Tom
