Before the concrete truck shows up, someone has to put the building in the right place.
Geo Vision Surveying Inc was recently in Hagersville, Ontario providing building layout for new foundation work next to an existing home. Here's what that looks like on the ground:
1. On site, with the robotic total station set up and ready
2. The instrument set up over a stake along the fence line
3. A layout pin and orange paint at the bottom of the footing trench
4. The footing trench beside the existing house
5. The wider site as excavation moved along
Every mark comes from measured positions tied to the design, so the excavation and forming crews can check their work before anything is poured. Moving a stake takes minutes. Moving a footing after the pour can take days and cost real money.
Layout puts the design on the ground. It doesn't replace the designer's drawings or the contractor's own checks.
