Sha Shaw Corporation is seeking proposals from qualified janitorial service providers to supply regular weekly cleaning services and on-demand/event cleaning for the SSC/ARRC Office located at 180 Alaska Highway.

Thank you to Mapping the Way for sharing stories about food security in the north.

This profile of our Mbä̀t Shä̀w Tsʼélē Coordinator, Lahela Reid is so exciting to see as we are get ready to welcome Mbä̀t Shä̀w Tsʼélē to our community this Fall.

A huge thank you to Food Banks Canada for their support of Mbä̀t Shä̀w Tsʼélē and our research partners at the National Research Council of Canada.

“Growing up in Däkwä̀kä̀da, I’d had jobs working with kids here and there and it was always a struggle to get them to eat vegetables,” says Lahela Reid. “I noticed that when I’d bring up vegetables grown in the garden to the youth centre and it was easier, because the vegetables were actually good. Admittedly, it was hard even for me to eat vegetables until I started working at the greenhouse too. When eating from the garden, it was like eating vegetables that I've never tried before."

Now, Lahela is the coordinator for the Mbä̀t Shä̀w Tsʼélē project. Mbä̀t Shä̀w Tsʼélē means "where they put away food well/food preparation" in Southern Tutchone. The project aims to establish a resilient local food system build by the community to meet their own needs. The community food hub will ahve a rentable commercial kitchen and butchery kitchen that local food-based businesses will be able to access to process, produce and package food products.

The project is being led by Sha Shäw Corporation, a subsidiary of Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. The purpose of Mbä̀t Shä̀w Tsʼélē is to play an important role in building and improving Champagne and Aishihik First Nations’ access to quality food and opening avenues for economic opportunities through entrepreneurship.

We are so proud of our Yukon First Nations Wildfire crew!!

Initial Attack Crew Spotlight #1 of 9

We're kicking off our Initial Attack Crew spotlight series with the Champagne (Shadhäla) Crew, supported by Sha Shäw Corporation and based in Haines Junction.

YFNW's Initial Attack crews are stationed in communities across the Yukon and are often the first firefighters to respond when a wildfire is reported. Their quick action, training, and dedication help keep small fires from becoming larger incidents.

Help build the new Bike Skills Park in Dakwäkäda (Haines Junction). You'll work alongside Pedal Junction Yukon's contractor and crew — building a pump track, a picnic area, a learn-to-bike trail, and more.

👉full time (37.5 hours/week) for approximately 4 weeks, starting the first week of July 2026
👉Open to CAFN Citizens and Haines Junction area youth, ages 15–25

No trail-building experience needed.

This is a paid, hands-on position for youth aged 18–30 who are curious, creative, and ready to learn. You'll work on real communications projects — social media, events, community outreach, and more.

💚 $28/hour · 37.5 hrs/week · 12 weeks

📍 Haines Junction, Yukon

No experience required — just enthusiasm and a willingness to grow. This position is based in Haines Junction. There is no relocation package or staff housing available through SSC.
