Hi, I'm Stephanie, owner of Clean Slate, a full service, professional home staging and organizing company serving Halifax and surrounding areas. After more than 20 years working in communications and development for various non-profit organizations, I took the plunge and am now following my passion. I graduated from QC Design School in 2022 and created Clean Slate Home Staging and Organizing right

away. When I'm not staging or organizing, I love to garden, travel, and socialize with family and friends. Whether you're just looking to organize the junk drawer that's gotten out of hand or you need your whole home organized, I can help! If you’re planning to list your home, or it’s been sitting on the market while you wait for the right offer, our home staging services can work wonders in attracting the right homebuyers and help increase the value of your home.

Most laundry spaces don’t look messy…
But they never feel fully put together.

You place things on top, they slide around,
water marks build up, and it always looks a bit… off.

It’s not a big problem.
But it’s a constant one.

Sometimes, a small upgrade like this is enough to make the whole space feel cleaner and more finished.

Tired of coming home to chaos? Discover the 10 daily habits of organized homes that can completely transform your space!

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by clutter piling up, weekend cleaning marathons, or that constant mental load of “I need to tidy up,” this is for you. The secret isn’t spending hours cleaning once a week it’s building small, consistent daily habits that keep your home calm, functional, and welcoming every single day.

The 5-Minute Morning Reset
Start your day right: Make the bed, clear your bedside tables, open the windows for fresh air, and toss dirty clothes in the hamper. This simple routine sets a tone of order and calm that carries through the entire day.

“Don’t Put It Down, Put It Away” Rule
Every item in your home deserves a permanent home. Keys go in the key tray, bags on the hook, shoes on the rack, and mail in the sorting tray. No more dumping things on counters or tables!

One Load a Day System
Laundry overload is real. By doing one small load daily, folding it within 24 hours, and putting it away immediately, you prevent massive weekend piles and that dreaded overwhelm.

Evening Kitchen Zero
Before bed, make sure dishes are washed (or in the dishwasher), counters are wiped, the sink is empty, and trash is checked. Waking up to a sparkling clean kitchen reduces morning decision fatigue and starts your day peacefully.

10-Minute Night Tidy
Get the whole family involved for a quick reset: Fluff cushions, clear the coffee table, fold throws, and return stray items. These small nightly resets stop big messes from forming.

The “One In, One Out” Rule
Bringing something new into the house? Donate or remove something old first. This simple rule prevents clutter from slowly accumulating over time.

Weekly 15-Minute Zone Rotation
Forget all-day cleaning sessions! Rotate quick tasks: Mondays for bathrooms, Tuesdays for fridge check, Wednesdays for sheets, Thursdays for dusting, and Fridays for paperwork. Maintenance beats marathon cleaning every time.

Visible Surfaces Stay Minimal
Keep entryways, dining tables, and kitchen counters as clear as possible. Remember: clutter attracts more clutter. Clean surfaces create instant visual calm.

A Donation Basket Always Ready
Keep a box or basket in your closet for clothes that no longer fit, unused items, or random clutter. This makes decluttering an ongoing, easy process instead of a rare big event.

Everything Has a Container
Use bins, trays, dividers, and baskets generously. When everything has its own spot, your home feels instantly more organized and visually peaceful.

These habits aren’t about perfection they’re about progress and consistency. When you adopt even a few of them, you’ll notice less stress, more free time, better focus, and a home that truly feels like a sanctuary rather than a chore.

A clean and organized home isn’t just nicer to look at it supports your mental health, reduces anxiety, improves productivity, and even makes it easier to eat healthier and sleep better. Small daily actions create big long-term peace.
