After 30+ years, it’s time for me to officially hang up my REALTOR® hat and step into retirement! Don't worry, I am still here for you to introduce you to your new REALTOR® when you need him.
To all my incredible clients: thank you for trusting me to be part of your lives—through the milestones, the chaos, the laughter, and sometimes the “are-we-ever-going-to-find-the-right-house?” moments. You welcomed me into your stories during good times and tough ones, and it has truly been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
Some of you even made me your “Family REALTOR®,” giving me the honour of helping three generations find their homes, or working with half the family tree—sometimes before I’d even finished the paperwork for the first branch! Those relationships are priceless, and I’m grateful for every single one.
And to the many of you who started as clients and soon became lasting friends: thank you. Real estate might be about houses, but the joy in this career has always been the people.
To my colleagues—past, present, and the brave souls who survived the faxes, the pagers, the MLS books, and every new “game-changing” technology since—thank you for the professionalism, collaboration, and camaraderie. Working alongside you has been an adventure in itself.
Now for the exciting news…
With retirement comes the question: Who can I trust to take care of the people who trusted me?
I’m thrilled to introduce Was Klayme, an old friend and someone many of you will soon be lucky enough to work with. Was may look like a giant teddy bear at first glance—with a heart just as big—but don’t let that fool you. When it comes to negotiating, he stands firm, focused, and fiercely committed to getting the right deal for his clients.
He’s also a true local, having grown up in Gaetz Brook, and he understands our communities, our people, and our market in a way only someone who’s lived it can. Honestly, choosing Wassim to carry on the business was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made.
So if you have any upcoming real estate needs, questions, or even early-stage “we’re thinking about maybe possibly moving someday” thoughts—don’t hesitate to reach out to Wassim. Heck, I will even introduce you. Just reach out to the same #. (902)-497-1217. You’ll be in very good hands.
As I head into retirement, I look forward to slower mornings, fewer deadlines, and maybe even figuring out what people do on weekends when they’re not at inspections.
You are cordially invited to join us on January 22, 6-8pm @ RE/MAX NOVA's Dartmouth location:
32 Akerley Blvd for a wine & cheese party with light refreshments to wish Merv a happy retirement, tell us your updates, share your funny real estate stories, and perhaps attempt to tell him a dad joke that he has not heard yet!
And I’ll leave you with one last dad joke—because after 30 years, I’ve earned the right to drop at least one more:
Why don’t retired REALTORS® get stressed?
Because they finally learned to deal with… no deals.
Thank you all for an amazing journey. ❤️
