Property tax help is easy to miss if you don’t know to look for it.

Applications are now open for Nova Scotia’s Property Tax Rebate for Seniors. Eligible homeowners can receive 50% of the municipal residential property taxes they paid in 2025, up to $800.

To qualify, applicants must have paid their 2025 property taxes in full, have their name on the property title, and receive or be eligible for the Guaranteed Income Supplement or Allowance.

Applications are open until December 31. If you’re helping a parent or family member navigate these programs, it’s worth checking their eligibility sooner rather than later.
