Great to start my week catching up with local realtors who are in Ottawa for their annual advocacy day! These ladies had lots to share on housing in Halifax, and I really appreciated their insight. Thanks, Shauna, Tracey, and Victoria!

Important Notice to Prospect Road Community Members:

The Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is currently in the process of negotiating the terms for a major housing development at the Halifax Exhibition Centre on Prospect Road. This project is set to accommodate approximately 14,000 new residents who will enter and leave the community via the Prospect Road. This will significantly impact the daily lives of our Prospect Road communities.

To discuss this project and its potential impacts, HRM has scheduled two public consultation sessions on Wednesday, September 11th (see attached poster). These sessions will take place at the Exhibition Park site, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:30-8:30 pm.

Your attendance is crucial to ensure that the development is planned and executed in a way that considers and mitigates any potential negative impacts on our existing communities.
As residents of the Prospect community, we must advocate for strong commitments from HRM, the Province, and the developer to ensure the necessary infrastructure and services are provided.

Some key considerations must include:
- Reliable transit connections
- Improved access to, and protection of, wetlands and green spaces
- Adequate retail facilities and essential services (e.g., schools, daycare, recreation, EHS, primary health care)
- Effective emergency egress routes

Your input is vital to ensuring that our community’s needs are addressed. Please attend one of these sessions to make sure your voice is heard.

Respectfully,
PROBE
