SOLD! Even in a market like this one, I got it done! Congrats to my clients on this sale. This was a huge undertaking with a successful, happy ending. It started with clearing out the family home of 20 years, demolition, renovations, cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning and of course staging by yours truly.

How quickly a year flys when you’re having fun. It’s been a year since I joined REVEL Realty and I have to say, it’s been a successful one. I am not one to toot my own horn, but I think I deserve it today. This past year has been a slow one for many agents, but not me! I managed to finish my year with 21 real estate transactions. 8 leases, 7 sales, and 6 purchases. Why have I remained busy in a dead market…because I ALWAYS GO OVER AND ABOVE, my clients trust me, I make data driven decisions and I negotiate hard.

📉 Bank of Canada Interest Rate Update 📉

The Bank of Canada has lowered its key interest rate by 0.25%, bringing it down to 2.25%. This is the second time they’ve cut rates since March.

    •    The Bank Rate is now 2.50%
    •    The deposit rate is 2.20%

Why did they cut the rate?

🇨🇦 The economy has been slowing down, and growth isn’t as strong as expected. Part of this is due to the impact of U.S. trade tariffs, which have caused some longer-term challenges.

📊 Inflation isn’t sitting near the 2% target anymore, but core inflation is still higher than the Bank would like. Because of this mix, they’re taking a cautious, wait-and-see approach.

What happens now?

For now, the Bank of Canada is pausing on any more rate cuts. They want to see how the economy responds to the changes already made. Future decisions will be based on incoming data.

These factors suggest there are advantages to buying right now:

More choices, more negotiating power
Higher inventory and fewer competing buyers than in the peak market means you’re less likely to get into bidding wars, or overpay out of urgency. You may get better terms.

Stabilizing or modestly declining prices
If you believe prices are flattening or easing, buying sooner could mean you lock in something before any future increase (especially if interest rates drop, which tends to push prices up again).

Potentially lower barrier to entry vs. recent peaks
Some of the inflated premium from recent years may be easing, so what was out of reach might be more within range now.

Long term ownership helps
If you plan to live in the home for many years, short-term market fluctuations matter less. Over time, ownership tends to build equity, even if the market dips temporarily.
