The Bank of Canada has held rates at their latest meeting today. They followed through on this expected rate hold and turned to a more 'wait and see' approach from the aggressive 'upfront heavy lifting' raises and it is the first time in a year rates haven't risen.

This doesn't provide any immediate relief for consumers/home owners but at least doesn't make borrowing/debts more expensive.

The next Bank of Canada announcement on the policy rate takes place on April 12.

Don't be caught off guard... Interest rates will be going up tomorrow!

The Bank of Canada is meeting again tomorrow and will likely be announcing an interest rate increase between 0.5%-1% with a 0.75% hike seeming the most likely.

With inflation still running high it is very likely there will be more rate hikes in the near future putting further pressure on household debts.

Economists are predicting the Bank of Canada will hike its key interest rate by three-quarters of a percentage point on Wednesday as inflation rages on globally.
