I met Conrad in 2018 when he walked into an open house I was hosting. From the moment he introduced himself, he was charming, approachable, and genuine. At the time, I had no idea who he was. I simply assumed he was a prospective buyer visiting the property.
Over the years, Conrad became much more than a Broker of Record. He became a mentor, a supporter, and a friend. No matter how busy he was, he always took the time to check in. In fact, we spoke as recently as last Tuesday about an upcoming listing. Little did I know it would be our last conversation. It was also through Conrad that I learned he and Chris had known each other since their early years in East Hamilton and Stoney Creekβa connection that made the world feel a little smaller.
What I admired most about Conrad was his humility. Despite his experience, success, and influence, he was never afraid to admit when he didn't know something. I received unexpected calls from him asking questions or seeking another perspective when he knew I had first hand experience with a situation.
He understood his limitations and believed in gathering the right information before providing an answer. That quality taught me an important lesson: true leadership is not about having all the answers; it is about having the humility to seek them.
Conrad was also a proud father. He frequently shared stories about his daughter, her accomplishments, and the joy she brought to his life. His pride in her was unmistakable, and it revealed the depth of his character and the love he carried for his family.
Last week, we lost an icon. The real estate community lost a respected leader, but those of us fortunate enough to know him lost so much more. We lost a friend, a mentor, and a genuinely good man.
Conrad, I am grateful for the opportunity to have known you, learned from you, and grown because of your guidance. Your legacy will live on in the countless lives you touched and the example you set for all of us. We will do our best to continue walking the path you helped create.
Rest in peace, Conrad. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
