Happy National Volunteer Week!

Here at the HBSPCA we are so lucky to have the gift of almost 200 volunteers giving their time and talent to the animals on a regular basis. We want to take some time this week to highlight just a few of them!

Melissa has been volunteering as a Receptionist at the HBSPCA since March 2017. In that time, she has also fostered a number of puppies and kittens. Melissa decided to volunteer because she loves animals and wanted a way to give back. She also wanted to show her children that helping others and volunteering is one of the most rewarding things a person can do. Volunteering at the HBSPCA is a part of the week Melissa looks forward to, it gives her a sense of pride and gratitude. “The people who work/volunteer are definitely my favourite parts, but knowing that I’m giving back, I’m needed and appreciated are very close up there as well.” Seeing and visiting with the shelter animals is also a highlight for Melissa!
