What is home equity and why is it so great?​​​​​​​​

Home Equity is the amount of value your home has when you deduct your loan balance. It's sort of like an investment fund! You build home equity over time when you own a home by making your mortgage payments and automatically from your home appreciating over time (as long as you continue to take care of it!)​​​​​​​​

Home equity is great because it provides homeowners with a valuable financial asset that can be used in a variety of ways. For example, you can use your home equity to obtain a loan or line of credit, which can be used to pay for home improvements, education expenses, medical bills, or other major expenses. Additionally, you can use your home equity to consolidate high-interest debt, which can save you money in interest charges and make your monthly payments more manageable.​​​​​​​​

I grew up in Dundas Ontario and have been a real estate agent in the H-GTA area for over 12 years.​​​​​​​​

Q; What's the worst part of renting?​​​​​​​​

There are the minor inconveniences of having loud neighbours who stomp around and not being able to design your home the way you want.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
But there are more significant problems when it comes to renting-ones that can impact your finances and future. Rent keeps increasing, and none of the rent you pay will build up in equity-it just disappears into your landlord's pocket!​​​​​​​​
