Spare Change Goes a Long Way
There are few things more frustrating than hearing that distinct rattle in the washing machine. Clink. Clink. The sound of quarters and dimes emerging from pant pockets and vocally enjoying a Tide bath.
Coins have become a forgotten commodity in our world. Occasionally we fish them out from our wallets to avoid getting more change in return or to buy something from the rare vending machine. But all that spare change can really add up to make a big difference.
Try placing a few change-catching cups around the house and encourage everyone to deposit their coins. Make sure to keep one near the washing machine for those retrieved before, or after, the wash. Choose a fun way to spend this money – like a family outing for pizza or bowling – and you’ll be amazed at how quickly those coins add up! In some areas, banks or casinos will still count change for free…so make sure to ask.
Don’t let your spare change just hide in the couch cushions and lay around unused. Put your money to work for the fun of the family. How will you spend your change?

Sad News from Minnesota

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respect, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Born and bread in Minnisota, Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half- baked schemes.

Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions. Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

If you smiled while reading this, please rise to the occasion and pass it on to someone having a crumby day or kneading a lift.

Kindness Is The Key

A boy found a turtle and started to examine it, but the turtle pulled its head and legs into its shell. The boy was upset and picked up a stick to try and pry it open.

The boy's uncle saw this and remarked, "No, that's not the way! You’ll never get it to open up with a stick. In fact, you may harm the turtle."

The uncle took the turtle into the house and set it near the fireplace. In just a few minutes, the turtle began to get warm. It pushed out its head, then stretched out its legs and began to crawl.

"Turtles are like that," said the uncle, "and people, too. You can't force them into anything. But if you first warm them up with some real kindness, more than likely they will respond to you."

MISTAKES ARE PROOF THAT YOU’RE TRYING
I’ve made little mistakes. Big blunders. Sometimes I’ve outright failed. And that’s OK.
Because the thing about getting something wrong is that learning how *not* to do things is just as important as getting them right. If you never mess up, how can you look back, learn and improve yourself?
Sometimes when you make a mistake, you get a second chance to get it right. But you have to be willing to reflect on your missteps, no matter how scary that may be. It’s far worse to hold yourself back because you’re too afraid to fail.
Remember that mistakes are proof that you’re trying. So go ahead and try, then try again in a better way.
Whenever I’m faced with a new challenge I ask myself, “What’s the worst that could happen?” Ask yourself the same thing the next time you want to take a leap in life. I promise, you won’t regret it.
