Price is often the first thing hosts want to change, but it's rarely the only reason bookings slow down. Before discounting your property, ask yourself:

📸 Are your photos stopping people from scrolling?
📝 Is your listing optimized with a strong title and description?
⭐ Are you consistently earning great reviews?
📈 Are you getting enough visibility across the right booking platforms?
🎯 Is your pricing strategy keeping up with your local market?

Sometimes a few strategic improvements can make a bigger impact than lowering your nightly rate.

I found this statistic really interesting because it highlights an opportunity many hosts overlook.

If a guest has already stayed at your property once and loved the experience, there's a good chance they'll come back. Yet most repeat bookings still happen through OTAs, meaning hosts continue paying platform fees for guests they've already earned.

That's one of the reasons I'm such a big believer in having a direct booking strategy. OTAs like Airbnb and Vrbo are fantastic for attracting new guests, but a direct booking website gives returning guests another way to book with you while helping you build your own brand over time.

It doesn't mean replacing OTAs. It means creating a healthier mix of where your bookings come from.
