Have you ever get to witness someone’s life from afar, and then get to see it up close…and see a huge change for the better in it?
Kyler Costucci and I met in our early 20s and went through a good solid season of pursuing what we thought was best as young driven men without a real understanding of who God was to us and who we were to God. We also went through that “ I’m in my mid 20s, I’m successful and I’m kind of an idiot, egotistical, insecure, guy phase.”
You can either relate directly to this, you’ve been a sibling to someone who did this, or a parent, or even a grandparent or maybe even a spouse. and if you don’t relate to either one of those, then you’re probably in the same dang phase and don’t even know it 😉.
If you witnessed mine, you owe me $20 for admission to that showcase mini series 😁
Fast-forward to about two years ago Jenna and I were living in Kelowna and Kyler made some post about needing a place to crash in Vernon for a marathon/race. Being who I am, I just immediately invited a person who is a total stranger to my wife into our home gave him a key and then left… immediately after he arrived.
Leaving Jenna Raye McKinnon-West and him to figure out what to talk about and who the heck he was. Kind of an important thing for a woman to know about a man she’s never met who is about to spend the next few days in her house with unlimited access even when she’s at work.
Kyler moved here and I much like in the days of our youth both chose to dive in headfirst into doing community and serving outside of ourselves. we committed to being opened, honest and extremely intentional while we built a new life for ourselves in a brand new city with people that we didn’t know. It’s been so awesome to be able to do life with a man that I really admire, who is not sold out for success in business, but sold out for Jesus, and sold out for serving and loving others.
To say, I’m just merely proud of him and who he is becoming would be the biggest understatement I could make.
However, I will say that I love you Kyler and I’m so very proud of you for choosing to do the hard things and for sharing your vulnerabilities with me as I share mine with you. Having men in your corner who show up, commit to high trust relationships inside and outside of work is a blessing I have. It wasn't always thus way. And it rarely is for men. However...you can build it, you can find it, your can find them. Don’t stop searching. Don't think it isn't for you. Don’t believe the lie both Kyler and I did for years.
Kyler, although I no longer have a brother living on this earth, I count you as one that I got to choose.
I am better for it all because you choose to do these freaking marathon races all over the dang country cause you're you and I'm me.
Don't stop leaning into your faith, your fitness and your passion for financial excellence. It's all just beginning for you...
