“The Caribbean is only busy for 4 months.”

I hear this all the time from Canadians looking at investing in the Dominican Republic or Mexico.

The problem? They’re looking at tourism through a North American calendar.

Yes, Canadians and Americans drive demand during the winter months.

But what happens the rest of the year?

🌎 South Americans travel too.

From May through September, travelers from countries like Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia head to the Caribbean for sunshine during their winter.

Then comes the true slow season:
☔ Mid-September to mid-November (rainy season).

After that?

✈️ North Americans and Europeans return from November through April.

So instead of 4 busy months, you’re often looking at around 10 months of demand and only about 2 slower months.

That’s why understanding who travels, when they travel, and where they’re coming from matters so much when analyzing a short-term rental investment.

Don’t rely on myths. Rely on data.

“If I barely trust the our goverment here… why would I trust another government to invest in real estate?”

Someone asked me that at the gym today after watching my videos about investing abroad.

It’s a fair question.

Here’s what I told him:

This isn’t a government trust problem. It’s a knowledge problem.

Most people aren’t afraid because another country is necessarily riskier. They’re afraid because they don’t understand how that country’s real estate system works.

Once you understand how foreign ownership works, how buyers are protected, what the taxes are, and what the rules actually look like, something changes.

Fear turns into curiosity.
