Declaring your 2025 BC Speculation Tax (No letter required)

As we enter the tax season, you will need to declare BC Speculation Tax information.

Fortunately, it is now very easy to complete your declaration online even if you do not have the physical letter.

Option 1: Request Your Code Online (New & Easiest)
If you don’t have your letter, you can now request your Letter ID and Declaration Code directly through the provincial website.

Website: gov.bc.ca/spectax
What you’ll need: Your SIN, date of birth, and the PID/Folio from your last property tax notice.
Once the system verifies your identity, it will provide your codes so you can finish the declaration online immediately.

Option 2: Declare by Phone
If you prefer, you can call the Ministry of Finance. An agent will verify your identity and process your declaration over the phone in about 5 minutes.

Hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Pacific Time), 7 days a week.

Why this is the best route: This ensures your filing is completed securely and legally before the March 31, 2026 deadline, without needing the tenant to handle your private tax documents.
