For waterfront buyers, the boathouse has become almost as considered as the home itself.
A recent Sotheby's International Realty feature looks at the evolution of the modern boathouse — from a practical place to store boats and gear to a thoughtfully designed extension of waterfront living. Today, we’re seeing everything from expansive sun decks and entertaining spaces to guest accommodations, kitchens, and beautifully finished interiors right at the water’s edge.
Here in Eastern Ontario, it’s a feature that feels especially relevant. The right boathouse can add tremendously to how a property is enjoyed, bringing family and friends closer to the water and creating a gathering place that becomes part of summers for generations.
If waterfront living is on your mind, I’d be happy to share my perspective on what to look for when buying or selling a recreational property in our region.
