Building the future of youth support in Kingston.

Yesterday, we were honoured to welcome Mayor Brian Patterson, Kingston's Mayor for a Day Airyck Miller, and his father to the future Kingston Youth Services Hub (KYSH) and Kingston Youth Arts & Culture Centre (KYACC).

They were joined by City Councillors Wendy Stephen, Vincent Cinanni, and Conny Glenn, as well as Home Base Housing Board President Ed Smith, Board members Wendy Bellamy and Bill Dobson, and Executive Director Tom Greening for a tour of the remarkable progress being made on the project.

Together, KYSH and KYACC represent a transformative investment in Kingston's young people. Through integrated housing, health, education, recreation, employment, and arts programming, this four-phase initiative is designed to intervene early, prevent homelessness, and help youth build brighter futures.

As part of the visit, Mayor Patterson and Airyck also stopped by One Roof, Phase 1 of KYSH, to learn more about the work already happening there. Last year alone, more than 570 unique youth accessed our drop-in and support services, connecting with safe spaces, trusted adults, and the resources they need to thrive.

When KYSH opens in mid-to-late September, it will add 38 supportive bachelor apartments for youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness, creating a pathway to stability and independence. Alongside it, KYACC will provide a vibrant, inclusive space where young people can discover their creativity, develop new skills, and experience the transformative power of arts and culture.

We're excited to welcome the community through our doors this fall and continue building a future where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
