In our current economic climate, there is a lot of uncertainty. As a result sellers are having to reconcile the reality of the value of their properties simply because buyers have more options.

Buyers have the option to be a bit more specific and selective and not settle because, well, they don’t have to.

We are all eagerly awaiting what the Bank of Canada will do regarding interest rates. With a dip in inflation from 2.9% to 2.7%, we know this is a step in the right direction but may not be enough to lower rates.

Because real estate is such a powerful economic lever, we have seen much legislation and regulation to try to tame the beast. Some would argue that all the tampering is causing a roucus and leaving little room for the housing market to repair itself.

My take is that we need to build more and faster. Some companies have taken it upon themselves to speed up production and precision by prefabricating as much as possible.

Of course it’s not a perfect system but we have seen it help to speed up production timelines. In the meantime, if you’ve got questions about this market, feel free to reach out.

Yesterday I had an opportunity to sit down with MP Michael Couteau the chair of the Parliamentary Black Caucus.

We advocated for funding to enable Black people access to information to building generational wealth through real estate.

We discussed the allocation of funds to help black people enter the market and how those funds can not only be localized in Ontario but spread across the country to places like BC.

Did you know studies indicate that homeownership rates among Black individuals in Canada are consistently among the lowest nationwide?

Let’s change the narrative.
