Music has a way of bringing people together, and that’s exactly what happened at a small barn concert at the Thomas Family Farm near Woodville. What began as a simple night of friends, family, and local musicians celebrating the joy of music turned into something even more meaningful — a generous donation of guitars and music gear for A Place Called Home.

Sharing the Gift of Music

This donation of guitars and other music gear is the result of a small barn concert that took place recently at the Thomas Family Farm near Woodville. The goal for the evening was simply to have family and friends come together to celebrate music and togetherness. This event was organized by Steve Thomas, and it brought together several local musical artists, including Meredith McCabe, Cael Thomas, Ian Parliament, Jason Veley, Brian Kerr, and local up and coming singer/songwriter, Mason Moxley, who was accompanied by his uncle, Chris Moxley.

Organizer, Steve Thomas, said he just wanted to host an evening that would celebrate the gift of music.
All of the musicians that evening thought it would be pretty wonderful to share the gift of music with others, by collecting donations in support of music opportunities at A Place Called Home...so that's what we did!

"This gift of guitars etc. is really the result of the kindness and appreciation shown by everyone who was in attendance that night! Everyone came together to enjoy some live music, and everyone went home feeling like they had been a part of something special. Being able to share that feeling with others who might be able to benefit from the beauty of music, just feels like a good thing to do!" (Steve Thomas)

"I have benefitted from the support of my local community as a young musical artist, and I know what it feels like to pick up a guitar and play a song--it's just good for the soul! I think everyone has their own stories to tell and music is a great way to do that. It feels pretty good to know that someone here at APCH might pick up one of these guitars and write their own song!" (Mason Moxley)

Both Thomas and Moxley were really pleased to deliver these gifts on behalf of everyone who contributed, including Van Halteren's Music Centre for helping to put this music package together.

"This is such a thoughtful and welcome addition to our shelter. Music truly has a way of bringing people together and can be a therapeutic tool during difficult times. I am confident that this donation will be put to good use and enjoyed by many!!" (Nicole Bryant, Executive Director APCH)

"You can't put a price on good people doing good things to make the world a better place!"
