Listowel Lore: I bet you didn’t know… 👀
And #4 totally blew my mind. 🤯

I’ve lived here a long time, and somehow Listowel still manages to surprise me. Here are 4 pieces of local history you might not know:

🎬 1. The Capitol Twin Cinema used to be a funeral home.
Yep… before movie nights and popcorn, this building had a very different purpose. 😳

🪑 2. Andrew Malcolm Furniture was made right here in Listowel.
At one time, Listowel was home to a major furniture manufacturer, producing pieces right here in our community.

🌊 3. There’s a RIVER running underneath our downtown.
Parts of the Maitland River were covered over as the downtown developed — meaning when you’re walking through downtown Listowel, there’s literally water flowing beneath you.

🎹 4. LISTOWEL HAD A PIANO FACTORY!
This one totally blew my mind. Of all the things I expected to discover about Listowel’s history… a piano factory was definitely not one of them. 😂

The more I dig into the history of our little town, the more interesting it gets.

Experience in real estate changes what you’re impressed by.

Early on, it’s easy to think success looks like closing deals every single week or having posts go mega viral.

After 12 years, I care a lot more about the things that don’t photograph well.

Knowing when to slow a client down before they make an expensive decision. Catching the detail that changes the entire conversation. Having the right person to call when something unexpected shows up three days before closing.

The longer I do this, the less interested I am in the flashy stats and the more interested I am in being useful.

Because most clients will never remember how packed my calendar was that year.
