A pretty major update just dropped for Ontario real estate!
The province of Ontario just hit PAUSE on HST for many newly built homes—and this time it’s not limited to first-time buyer, it’s for everyone!
Here’s the breakdown:
-Open to more buyers for a limited time (1 year)
- Kicks in April 1, 2026. - Applies to new homes priced up to $1M
- Potential savings of up to $130,000
- Sliding rebates available up to $1.85M
- Home must be used as a primary residence or rental
This is being rolled out alongside the Government of Canada, combining efforts to ease the tax burden and inject about $2.2B back into the market.
