After an up and down weather pattern this winter, the spring thaw might keep us all on our toes. With some clients already calling with the water finding ways into their basements and causing damage. Spring maintenance for homeowners and landlords will have us checking top and bottom for little issues that were created or exacerbated over the winter. Heavy snow accumulation in many parts of the country means a heightened risk of flooding if the weather turns to spring too quickly.

February is proving to be a little unpredictable. But looks like some damaging winds and a mix of rain storm and snow squalls.

If you are headed away, make sure you have someone checking in on your home to make sure it is taken care of while you are away. For insurance purposes, this is necessary. No one expects anything to happen, but an unoccupied property, even for a holiday will run into insurance coverage concerns....so do yourself a big favour and have someone check in.

Ontario: Hard to believe flood threat creeps into forecast
But with the January Thaw comes the February warm up....rain and melt. Past frozen pipes for a week or so and now onto checking for flooded basements!
