5 Things to check around your house after winter ends and spring rains begin.

1.) This is the best time to check window leaks at ground level. If there was is any sign of wetness in your basement, it is usually found in spring of year when either snow is melting or with spring rains.
2.) Check for water pooling especially at areas where downspouts relieve water. Water pooling near your foundation means that there is not enough soil and grass to make water run away from your home and not towards your home.
3.) Eaves troughs usually are damaged during winter from snow or ice buildup. Insure proper attachment to facer boards and under edge of shingles or steel roofing for proper draining to down spouts.
4.) Fix leaking eaves troughs. They are hazardous especially above walkways or step of stairs.
5.) Water management is so important on your property. Fast running water can damage areas especially near downspout exits, water migration from lot to street or from lot to lot line is very important. Remember, paved parking lots don’t absorb water, they deflect water. So insure that those lots have avenues for water to escape, not pool and find a path away from parking lot.
