Celebrating another great year at Ribfest! 🍖

One of the things I enjoy most about living and working in Southwestern Ontario is the incredible sense of community. This weekend was filled with great food, great people, and time spent with family and friends at one of London’s signature summer events. Even though Sunday was cut short by the rain, I was honoured to be invited back as a Ribfest judge once again.

Day two of Ribfest was a success! 🍖

I took the family to Victoria Park, and this year was extra special because it is Max’s very first Ribfest.

We stopped by Boss Hogs and shared the Big Daddy Combo: a full rack of ribs, half a chicken, a pound of pulled pork, two cornbreads, and two sides. There was more than enough food for all of us, with leftovers to spare!

As one of this year’s Ribfest judges, I’ve had the opportunity to sample some incredible BBQ. But for me, the best part is spending time with family and enjoying everything our downtown has to offer.

If you haven’t made it down yet, there’s still time to enjoy one of London’s favourite summer traditions. Great food, great music, and a great atmosphere.

PRO TIP: For anyone buying a property with complex systems:

Boilers, geothermal heating, advanced septic systems, solar panels, water treatment equipment, specialty HVAC systems, or really any unique property feature can come with a learning curve.

One thing I recommend is making sure there’s a clean handover process. You may want consider requesting it as part of your offer, if it’s warranted I’ll always suggest a scheduled visit with the seller after conditions are satisfied so you can walk through the property together and learn how everything works. Keep it at a mutually convenient time and within a reasonable timeframe.

This is something I regularly arrange for my clients and they always appreciate it. Every time we go back for that visit, we seem to learn something new, whether it’s how to maintain a system, hidden shutoffs, seasonal tips, maintenance schedules, or little property quirks only the owner would know.

Buying the property is one thing. Understanding how to operate it confidently after closing is another.

Knowledge transfer matters.
